Consultation

Sometimes what's needed most is a space to step back and think, with someone who can help make sense of what's happening.

A psychological consultation is a conversation with one of our psychologists about a child, family, situation or dilemma you're holding. You bring what's on your mind; we bring psychological understanding, fresh perspective and practical ways forward. It might be a single session, or regular space to think together over time.

People come to consultation with things like:

  • "I'm worried about my child, but I don't know if they need therapy or what kind of help to ask for."

  • "I'm a foster carer / adoptive parent and something has shifted at home. I want to understand what's going on beneath the behaviour."

  • "I'm a social worker / teacher / keyworker and I feel stuck with a child I’m supporting. Nothing we try seems to work."

  • "There's a child in our school whose behaviour we don't understand, and our usual approaches aren't reaching them."

  • "Something difficult has happened in our team or home, and we need help to process it and respond well."

  • "As a manager, I'm noticing stress and strain in my staff team and want to think about how to support them."

In each case, the aim is the same: to leave with a clearer understanding of what's happening, why it might be happening, and what could genuinely help - whether that's a way forward you can take yourself, or a next step we can support you with.

Consultations are available to parents, carers, families and professionals, and can take place in schools, residential homes, community organisations and statutory services. Consultations can be in person or online.
