Therapy for Children & Young People

We offer psychological therapy for children and young people experiencing complex social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, including anxiety, significant low mood, loss, and struggles with self-esteem and self-worth.

We have specialist expertise in complex developmental (childhood) trauma and attachment difficulties, and we understand that children who have experienced early adversity often need something more than a standard, one-size-fits-all approach.

That's why our psychologists work integratively, drawing creatively on a range of evidence-based psychological models to build an approach that fits the child, rather than asking the child to fit the approach. These might include:

  • Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Practice and Parenting (DDP) informed interventions

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)

  • Non-Violent Resistance (NVR)

  • Play-based interventions (informed by Theraplay© principles)

  • A variety of other models, woven together into a tailored, integrated approach

Whatever the approach, our therapy is always rooted in the needs of the individual child and family, guided by evidence-based practice, and built on a foundation of safety, trust and connection.

Please get in touch for further information, or simply for some space to think about your therapy needs.

Therapy for Parents & Carers

Caring for a child affected by trauma can take a real toll on you, too. Many of the parents and carers we meet are carrying exhaustion, grief, guilt, anxiety or a quiet loss of confidence in themselves and some are also holding their own painful experiences, past or present, including difficult birth and early parenting experiences.

That's why we offer psychological therapy for parents and carers in their own right. This is a space that belongs to you, not to talk about strategies for your child but to be supported, make sense of your own feelings and experiences, and recover your own sense of steadiness and self-worth.

We believe that looking after the parent is never separate from looking after the child. When you feel more grounded, connected and cared for, your child feels it too. You don't need to justify this support as being "for" your child - you matter, full stop.
